Meet Our Pet Rescue Partners
A Tail of 4 Paws Animal Rescue
A Tail of 4 Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue formed in August 2015 by great friends having the same goal; placing unwanted, homeless dogs with loving, caring people. We met volunteering for a local animal rescue and knew that one day we wanted to start our own rescue. While volunteering, we had met some amazing people who we now call friends and fosters that supported our vision.
Our new rescue has a 501(c)3 status with the IRS, and is approved with the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Additionally, the organization is 100% run by volunteers. We rescue within the state of Illinois focusing on Animal Controls in Southern Illinois as well as locally. Once the dogs are evaluated and matched to an approved, loving foster home, we transport them approximately 6 hours to the Romeoville area.
The first stop on the dog’s journey to their forever home is a bath. This is the first chance we all have to bond with the dogs. Then they are taken to the vet, where they are given a full exam, Rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, Bordetella, heartworm check, fecal check, and microchip. Our dogs are also put on heartworm preventative and flea/tick medication. All dogs are spayed or neutered and if needed, receive other medically necessary veterinary care(ex: surgery, treatments, etc). After the dogs are vetted our dogs are next paced in a foster home where they get acclimated to living in a home environment and their personalities emerge and are evaluated. Our foster homes learn about each dog’s own personalities as well as training the dogs to become family pets. We work with dogs on house training, crate training, basic commands, and work on negative behaviors.
Once our dogs are adopted they and their new family become part of our rescue family. We stay in close contact as a resource for the adopter as well as share in the joys of watching their new family member thrive in the new
environment.
It’s been very exciting having our fosters become adopters and our adopters become fosters. We have become a very close knit family and support system.
St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines
St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines is a non-profit foster-based cat rescue in Wheaton, IL. Established in late 2010, St. Sophia’s strives to be the best in temporary care for cats in transition. What does this mean? It means that the cats in our care aren’t intended to stay in our care. Our hope is a forever home for every adoptable cat — no more homeless cats!

- Training - private, group and pack-walk options! These programs will be customized for each individual pet at the start and then they transition to spaces you can practice training and socialization safely.
- Consulting with other shelters on dogs that might need more help with a particular rescue dog. We have decades of experience with traumatized or behavioral problem dogs in rescue. This could be a dog being returned multiple times, struggling in a kennel environment, having problems at multiple foster homes or placements.
- Board and train programs for dogs at risk of loosing their homes from issues like fearful behavior (constantly scared or shut down), resource defensiveness over food, toys, space, people, etc.
- Grooming services for traumatized, under socialized or just new to being handled for grooming dogs, as well as all others.
- Consulting for anything, never hurts to ask and we aim to serve.
Whether you're looking for a new family member or struggling with a current one, an owner or another shelter. We will do free consultation calls and work with you to arrive at a solution to help the pets.
We work with absolutely all breeds and temperaments of dogs. Humans need to come willing and open to learning and doing the work.
Midwest Greyhound Adoption
Founded in 1991, Midwest Greyhound Adoption is a not-for-profit organization located in Sugar Grove, IL. We are comprised of 100% volunteers, dedicated to the adoption of retired racing greyhounds.
Wildwood Dog Training Club
“Teaching a Positive Approach to Training through
an Understanding of Canine Behavior.”
Wildwood Dog Training Club is a group of dog owners who believe that obedience training serves as the cornerstone for success in any dog/handler endeavor. As such, many of our members actively participate in dog-related activities, including competitive obedvience and agility trials, flyball tournaments, conformation shows and volunteer therapy work.
Our classes are conducted by helpful, well-qualified instructors who have attained one or more obedience titles on their own dogs. Each year our trainers attend seminars on canine behavior, learning theory and specific problem resolution. Consequently, they are always current with the newest concepts and training techniques.
We believe obedience training should be an enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. A successful training experience is the key to a mutually fulfilling and rewarding partnership. Our teaching philosophy is based upon an understanding of canine behavior and learning theory. Our training methods are gentle and persuasive, with an emphasis on motivation, communication and reward. Dogs trained with our positive-reinforcement techniques become happy, reliable and secure in their standing as members of the family and community.
